I got a Parcel. And did a childish dance.

I got a parcel, I got a parcel! I *love* parcels. Parcels that come in the post are far and away the biggest reason I shop online. Amazon? S'ok, not the same as being *in* a bookshop. But it becomes amazing when the parcel turns up. Even if I know what's in it a parcel is still exciting.

Anyhow, this parcel isn't from Amazon. It's from the Open University. It was big. Now I have a study file and big thick books to study. Last year I did the entry level course. I suspect that this year I'm onto the big gubbins. Last year my books had pictures and photographs and little cartoons. This year I just have words. Last year my first essay had to be 750 words long. This year the first essay has to be 2000 words long. Oh. It reminds me of the transition from GCSE to A-level, except the words are even longer.

If you could just imagine me wandering around, clutching my head and crying 'Oh, what have I got myself into this time!' I'd be grateful.

Thanks.

So. Yeh. I'm like a one woman Laurel and Hardy. 'That's another fine mess I've got me into'.

Home study is great once you have finished a course. It’s a fantastic sense of achievement. Unfortunately, the actual studying bit can be a right bastard. Doing a whole day at work (7.30am-5.30pm normally, thanks for asking! Oh, wait, you didn’t) then coming home to *study*. Not veg-out-in-front-of-TV or phone-for-pizza-and-drink-bottle-of-red-wine, or fight-other-half-for-control-of-cd-player or go-to-pub-and-play-with-friends. But *study*.

Still I chose this form of purgatory and I do enjoy my subject. Despite everyone else thinking I'm insane.

It's Social Policy if you wanted to know. C'mon stay with me for a minute. It's important! No, not boring, you at the back. It's all about welfare arrangements and the National Health Service. How their importance is judged and how governmental policy affects them and different theories on how it can all be improved. See, it's relevant. And interesting. Honest. Oh, I've lost you, haven't I?

Humph. Well, in my New World Order, you'll be first against the wall. And not in a kinky way either.
